The Mission
We exist to close the education gap. While cosmetic science has evolved dramatically over the past decade, most of the knowledge remains locked in expensive international programs, paywalled journals, and supplier technical documents that never reach the average African formulator.
We teach the science of formulation — not recipes you follow blindly, but principles you understand deeply. Our curriculum is adapted for tropical climates, local ingredient access, and African manufacturing realities.

How It Started
In 2018, after another failed batch — ₦65,000 worth of ingredients down the drain — I realized something: I had been formulating for three years and still didn't understand the basics of emulsion physics.
I could follow any recipe. But I couldn't troubleshoot when things went wrong. And in Lagos heat, things went wrong constantly.
So I went back to basics. Spent two years studying cosmetic chemistry properly — textbooks, journals, industry courses, mentorship from working chemists. And I documented everything.
In 2019, I started sharing what I learned on TikTok. "Why your lotion separated" videos. HLB calculations. Preservative efficacy windows. The response was overwhelming. Hundreds of messages: "Where can I learn more? Why doesn't anyone teach this?"
Dermalyte Institute was born from those questions. Today, we've trained over 400 formulators across Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. Our students have launched commercial products, supplied to spas, and built real businesses — because they finally understand why.

Generic Western content doesn't work here. Our climate, ingredients, and market are different. Our education should be too.
